Earthquake:  One of Albert Whitlock’s most astonishing accomplishments
was using original negative matte composites in camera rather than
combining the paintings with live action after the film was developed.
70+ matte paintings were created for Earthquake, and of those 40 were
painted by Whitlock himself in only 12 weeks!
